The heat wave of 1936 still claims many state records. Triple-digit temperatures were recorded in many locations from the first week of June until the third week of September. On August 10, when it was 120 at Ozark, temperatures topped out at 117 in Subiaco and Texarkana.

National Weather Service records show that the mercury hit 115 at Camden, Conway, Hope, and Hot Springs, and 114 at Fort Smith and Morrilton. Little Rock was a relatively mild 110, as were Batesville and Mountain Home.

Some of the reports are still all-time records for some locations. Little Rock exceeded that record in 2000, hitting 111 degrees on August 30.
