Cincinnati (Washington County)

Cincinatti Fire Department destroyed.
As unusual warm humid air flowed into the state on December 31st, 2010, storms ignited turning some New Year's Eve celebrations sour. The small community of Cincinnati was hit extremely hard in the early morning hours. An EF-3 tornado ripped through the small rural community, sadly killing 3 people. Along the damage path destruction was left for the communities residents, several homes, cars, and barns were all obliterated. It is noted that the communities fire department was also completely destroyed, causing that much more of an impact to the areas infrastructure.

Significant damage from a home in Cincinnati.

This one tornado more than doubled the number of tornado fatalities during the entire year for the state. After this tornado dissipated, the severe weather diminished for much of the day. Severe storms then developed again across the eastern and southeastern portions of the state.  One thunderstorm tracked near Star City and produced large hail that covered the ground. Although severe storms do not always occur during December, and January, they are not rare. With not much instability needed to ignite storms, severe weather can produce and spread quickly.
